The previous two owners both built these fly boxes in their homes, and by themselves. The first was Ronald Fye from 1948 to 1960 and the second was Rex Richardson from 1960 to 1995. Since taking over in 1995, we have worked hard at maintaining and even improving the quality of the box as a team of two. We are now ready for a change.
Karl Weber, my business partner for 16 years in making this great product, is leaving to spend more time with his new family. He has my best wishes and support in all his new adventures. He will be missed, but probably not totally absent ( I doubt he can really stay away, it gets in your blood ).
In the process, I will be moving the shop to my home, just as Ron Fye and Rex Richardson did before me, and I will continue to build boxes by myself just as they did. Unfortunately, this will not be an easy or quick move. So I apologize in advance for the inevitable delays, but promise to do my best to get back to building boxes as soon as I can. Orders may still be placed, but please be aware that it may take a long time to get your fly box. Dealers will have some boxes in stock and I can provide contact info to those interested.
Another important change will be the end of credit card payments. Due to the cost of processing these payments, it simply doesn’t make sense to continue. Especially since the building time per box allows plenty of time for a check or money order to arrive.
For those with orders placed before March 1, 2011, this move will not effect the delivery time of your box. As we get further from March 1, it will be less likely that your order will be started before the move so again, please be aware of the delay.
Thank you for your interest in, and support of our piece of fly-fishing history.
And thank you especially for your patience.
Robert C. Hegedus, Jr., Owner
